Company Profile

CubicFarms is a leader in controlled environment agriculture industry aiming to minimize the use of natural resources and maximize cubic growing space. Cubicfarm is developing two indoor growing technologies; one for fresh produce and one for high-energy fresh livestock feed.​

Problem

To achieve optimal plant yield and efficiency while mitigating high operational costs, Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) demands vigilant monitoring and control of system inputs and monitoring plant growth. This is accomplished by outfitting each growing module with a multitude of sensors that provide data on environmental factors, nutrient levels, and lighting. A centralized monitoring and control system is crucial for Cubicfarms to efficiently manage inputs and achieve optimal results.

Solution

In collaboration with CubicFarms leadership and farming partners, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the company's business and technical needs. This included creating a data strategy  to establish a clear connection between key business drivers and system indicators. Working with Cubicfarms' Engineering, we formulated a sensor and network strategy. The data needs were then translated into data models, system and network architecture. We developed the IoT messaging structure and data pipelines to construct a digital twin of the system. An enterprise-scale platform was built to monitor data and control equipment through industrial communication protocols such as CANBus and Modbus. Plant growth was tracked using a Computer Vision model, and various system and plant insights were made available through dashboards tailored for different stakeholders.

Multimodal RAG AI Agent

CloudMind is a local startup aiming to create a digital companion app tailored to the unique needs of elderly individuals to help eldercare facilities to enhance their quality of care.

Problem

This innovative app featured a chatbot interface designed to provide friendly and supportive interactions for seniors. Our goal was to develop a robust multimodal chatbot capable of emulating fluid and realistic conversations. Short and long-term memory implementation, responsiveness, and realistic avatar was amongst the challenges of this project.

Solution

In partnership with CloudMind leadereship, we created a caring chatbot with robust Natural Language Processing capabilities to understand and respond to a wide variety of inquiries and requests. The multimodal integration encompasses various technologies such as speech-to-text, text-to-voice, keyword recognition, and sentiment analysis. The chatbot uses streaming API model to enhance conversational fluidity and has short- and long-term memory. The app helps caretakers create patient profiles and review summary of daily conversation logs and sentimental analysis reports for each resident. The app may be designed to have personalized interactions with each resident to meet their personal needs. Its memory integrations also enables it to monitor cognitive skills of residents over time. Moreover, a realistic 3D avatar was incorporated to add a human touch to the interaction and making it more engaging.

Company Profile

UNILIA is one of the world’s leading providers of fuel cell stack technology focusing on R&D, application engineering development, and at-scale production for global customers. UNILIA owns and operates R&D labs, prototyping, testing, and mass production facilities in Canada and China.

Problem

UNILIA’s R&D and product development process, relies heavily on the rigorous testing of thousands of parts and assemblies every day. UNILIA operates 10s of advanced test stations in both Canada and China. Company's end-product is composed of 1000s of individual parts, each with its own distinct testing protocol. The high- frequency test station data needs to be collected, analyzed, and linked to specific parts' serial numbers. This data is to be readily available to engineers to help them make informed, data- driven decisions.

Solution

We partnered with UNILIA to create a scalable cloud architecture that prioritized DataOps and user experience. We automated the ingestion of test station data and designed data pipelines and databases with a focus on optimizing data queries. Working closely with UNILIA's experts, we analyzed their business requirements to determine necessary analytics and developed custom data reporting dashboards with a focus on user-friendliness. This resulted in a customized web application that allowed for monitoring, comparison, and visualization of test data. Additionally, we assisted UNILIA in structuring their internal software development pipelines to ensure proper version control of the various scripts used in the data pipelines. As part of this project, we delivered DevOps pipelines for data ingestion, analytics scripts, and data pipelines.
